What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Associate position at Howell Machine Inc?
Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Retail Store Manager to assist customers in finding and purchasing the required merchandise in a retail environment while encouraging customers to purchase products.
*The store will not be operational until August, but until then there will be work setting up the store front.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Greet customers and make certain of their wants/needs
- Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices
- Handling money responsibly – use of cash registers, counting money, balancing cash drawers, separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers, and making deposits
- Perform price/product lookups
- Zone merchandise
- Maintain the cleanliness/neatness of the store for presentation
Additional Responsibilities:
- Required to learn company policies and procedures
- Watch for/recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations
- Housekeeping duties
- Unloading merchandise from truck
- Any other duties assigned by your supervisor
Qualifications:
- Some retail and/or customer service-related experience
- Strong Communication Skills
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Responsibility – maintaining a pleasant working environment while providing excellent customer service, even during complications and/or conflicts
- Working conditions/Demands
- Ability to maintain a pleasant demeanor even when being treated unfairly by customers
- Sitting, Standing, Climbing, Lifting, Pulling, Carrying, Motor Coordination
*Before the store opening, you will need to get Certificate of Eligibility from California, which includes a firearms eligibility background check.
