Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable and organized Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable,processing payroll, and ensuring that our financial operations run smoothly. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a good understanding of bookkeeping principles, and a passion for supporting the success of a locally owned and operated retail business. This role requires a strong understanding of debits and credits, as well as proficiency in accounting software.
Duties
- Customer Service answers 4 line system and directs all calls.
- Maintain accurate and update financial records, including all transactions such as sales, purchases, expenses and Inventory.
- Manage accounts payable (vendor bills, supplier invoices) and accounts receivable (customer payments, deposits, credit sales).
- Perform general ledger accounting and ensure accuracy in account analysis
- Conduct bank reconciliations and credit card statements to ensure all transactions financial accuracy and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and process employee payroll on a regular schedule, ensuring accuracy in deductions, taxes and overtime calculations, monthly reconciliation and yearly w2's.
- Prepare tax documents and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
- Calculate and remit sales tax, payroll tax, ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information
- Prepare accurate monthly reports for accountant monthly and yearly.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role
- Strong knowledge of debits, credits, and general ledger accounting principles
- Proficiency in accounting software (experience with specific platforms is a plus)
- Experience with account analysis, budgeting, and bank reconciliation processes
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Dependability is Cruicial in this role. Consistent attendance and reliabilty are cruicial to ensure smooth operations.
