Primary Purpose of Job
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, this position is responsible for developing process controls and procedures in specialized areas to put into effect workable solutions to engineering and production problems, and to rapidly solve those problems in situations requiring closely coordinated completion with minimum operational interference. Direct reports include a multi-talented group of engineers assigned to work within the incumbents’ area of specialization. The incumbent communicates continually with all levels of personnel across all departments at Cleveland Operations. Externally, they communicate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
Accountability Objectives
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Obtaining the technical expertise to perform maintenance duties on equipment.
- Providing project management and single point accountability for the development of new technologies internally and externally to provide market advantages for Arconic products.
- Managing, directing, and holding accountable a multi-discipline engineering staff.
- Participating in the strategic planning of new products and processes to lower manufacturing costs and improve Arconic’s marketplace position.
- Providing necessary insight and vision to identify technologies that align with the overall business strategy and provide competitive advantage for the business.
- Defining and continuously improving processes by means of statistical analysis.
- Supporting maintenance and production in the operation and repair of equipment.
- Helping train maintenance and production personnel in mechanical, electrical, quality, and process issues.
- Ensuring that equipment meets all safety requirements.
- Providing standardized work instructions for the operation of equipment.
- Analyzing manufacturing trends to benchmark other manufacturing businesses and techniques.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
For this position to be successful, the incumbent should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 10 years of experience being accountable for capital improvements in the mechanical and electrical field.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

For this position to be successful, preference is given to candidates with:
- The ability to effectively communicate (verbally and written) and delegate while maintaining forward motion on key deliverables.
- A high degree of interpersonal skills to motivate and influence others, including those not under their direct supervision.
- Demonstrated ability of problem solving, systems thinking, project management, and team building.
- Large capital project management experience.
- Previous management or supervisory experience.
Working Conditions
This position involves moderate exposure to risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions. Work is normally performed in a shared work environment divided between the shop floor and interior office space. While not regularly exposed to hazardous materials, this position requires wearing full PPE to protect from mobile equipment and hot materials when on the shop floor.
This position requires light physical activity, such as walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time, as well as climbing stairs and ladders.
This position also requires a willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule and be available 24/7. Further, this position expects that the incumbent be willing and have the aptitude to assume the role of subject matter expert for the plant equipment and processes in the incumbents’ area of responsibility.
