Our state-of-the-art investment casting facility in La Porte, Indiana is seeking a Process Engineer- Casting Process Owner to join our team. Nestled halfway between South Bend and Chicago, along the shores of Lake Michigan - our facility in La Porte, Indiana supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the Aerospace industry.
This position is responsible for process monitoring and improvement of the vacuum investment casting process. Requirements of the position also include support of manufacturing through process control and improvement initiatives, assumes responsibility for integrity of product, establishes and maintains external & internal customer contacts.

Able to supply more than 90% of structural and rotating aerospace engine components.

This position is responsible for process monitoring and improvement of the vacuum investment casting process. Requirements of the position also include support of manufacturing through process control and improvement initiatives, assumes responsibility for integrity of product, establishes and maintains external & internal customer contacts.
Job responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Support manufacturing in the processing of castings through all operations.
- Maintain customer relationships through joint resolution of issues.
- Specification / work instruction review for mold wrap, mold preheat, casting, and post cast cooling processes.
- Training and accreditation of departmental casting technicians.
- Provide direction to manufacturing in the event of interrupted or incomplete processing of material.
- Provide direction to Maintenance and Instrumentation technicians on acceptable repair and calibration for process acceptance.
- Statistical analysis to ensure control of currently identified key input variables along with determination of future variables.
- Maintain and improve process records.
- Ensure adherence to all process specifications.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
- Serves as the quality designee for releasing equipment to production after prescribed testing.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled and achieve Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution prior to start date.
- Potential candidate shall have a minimum of one-year experience (a co-op or internship will be considered) in molten metal processing with preference given to precision casting processes.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
- Major in Materials Science and Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering.
- Familiarity with third party quality system accreditation programs (e.g. ISO, Nadcap) is preferred, but not a prerequisite.
- Familiarity with nickel based super-alloy metallurgy is also preferred.
- Knowledge of MS Office, excellent written & oral communications skills, able to work in a self- directed or team environment & have good organizational skills.
- Experience with statistical data analysis.
- Experience in synchronous manufacturing and Kaizens.
