TIG and arc welding equipment are employed. Commences welding, using proper diameter rod and TIG gun, after inspecting each weld area for adequate preparation.
Directs efforts of weld prep operator when additional weld prep is required). Defects detected after weld prep blending must be rerouted and rewelded. Assists in departmental housekeeping and new employee training. Applies weld identification. Performs other duties as required. Work requires constant attention to safety practices and procedures. Must acquire knowledge for acceptable / non-acceptable requirements for castings by interpreting and understanding visual specifications as outlined by our customers and engineers. Ability to interpret moderate engineering detailed drawings. Must be familiar with welding symbols and be certified annually to customer standards for non-hardening steels, nickel and cobalt base alloys and heat and corrosion resistant materials. Independent judgment is frequently required. All Internal and External audit preparation and facilitation, including NADCAP, Customers BU and Local. Specification review.
