A large, global corporation in the engineering space is seeking a Financial Cost Accounting Project Analyst to join their team on a direct hire basis! The Financial Cost Accounting Analyst will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of capital expenditure (CapEx) for construction projects, ensuring that project costs are accurately tracked, reported, and analyzed. This role will involve collaborating with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure financial targets are met, budgets are adhered to, and forecasts are maintained. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and skilled in construction cost accounting, with experience in managing financials for large-scale construction projects.
Responsibilities:
- Track and manage capital expenditures related to construction projects, ensuring that all costs are recorded and aligned with the approved budgets.
- Provide detailed, accurate, and timely cost reports to project stakeholders, senior management, and financial teams.
- Analyze project financial performance, identifying cost variances and making recommendations for corrective actions.
- Support the creation and maintenance of project budgets, ensuring all costs (labor, materials, equipment, overheads) are included and accurately forecasted
- Continuously monitor and update cost forecasts throughout the project lifecycle, adjusting for changes in scope, timing, and costs.
- Review and analyze cost reports, identifying areas of concern, inefficiencies, or cost-saving opportunities.
- Work closely with project managers to ensure effective cost control measures are in place and adhered to.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to mitigate risks and optimize project profitability.
- Monitor and report the impact of change orders on project budgets, ensuring all additional costs are accurately captured and documented.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding financial status, providing insights into project performance and areas requiring attention.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, accounting standards, and industry best practices for construction cost accounting.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Minimum of two years of experience in construction, engineering, or corporate cost accounting or CapEx management within a corporate construction environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Procore, Sage, or similar construction project management tools).
- Advanced skills in Excel, including financial modeling and complex data analysis.
- Familiarity with ERP systems used in construction and project cost tracking.
- Strong understanding of construction cost structures, CapEx accounting, and financial reporting in the context of large-scale construction projects.
