Project Accountant-Construction

Are you a Staff Accountant or Billing Analyst with experience in the construction industry and ready to take your career to the next level? We are looking for a Project Accountant to join our client's growing team! As a commercial real estate construction company with 20 years in the NYC Metropolitan, the organization has been growing steadily recently, prompting the addition of a robust and eager Project Accountant to join their team.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the accounting operations (AP and AR) and financials for construction projects from start to finish
• Monitor project budgets, costs, and profitability to ensure projects remain on track
• Prepare and process project billing, including progress billings and change orders
• Track project-related expenses and ensure accurate cost allocation
• Collaborate with project managers and senior leadership to provide timely financial reporting
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes
• Analyze and reconcile job cost reports and general ledger entries
• Ensure compliance with contract terms and applicable accounting regulations

Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a construction-related field (Jr. Project Accountant, Project Accountant, Staff Accountants, Junior Accountants, or Billing Analysts welcome)
• Strong understanding of construction accounting principles and job costing
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (experience with Sage is a plus)
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
