We have client looking for a project accountant on Long Island. The project accountant is responsible for the accounting needs of construction projects. They perform a variety of tasks, including preparing budgets, processing payments, and generating financial reports. Candidates must have experience in the construction industry. They are leaders in the development of inspection protocols and offer a great opportunity for the right candidate.

- Coordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
- Execute timely and accurate processing of client requisitions and subcontractor payments
- Ensure that client billings and subcontractors payments coincide with the project construction schedule in addition to maintaining accurate job cost books
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements and job reports
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Fully responsible for all project-based accounting including: AP, AR, GL WIP Scheduling/Reporting, and PL tracking
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Bachelors degree in accounting or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience in construction industry is a must
- At least three (3) years of accounting experience
- Possess proven solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Complete knowledge of all banking regulatory requirements.
- Experience in the use of various applications Microsoft Office Products, including Windows, Word, Excel, Sage QuickBooks.
- Solid decision-making skills - Able to resolve complex accounting issues.
