POSITION SUMMARY

This is a full-time position located in Hoyleton, IL.

The Activity Therapy Supervisor oversees planning, coordination, and implementation of therapeutic activities, recreational programming and activities designed to promote the development of life skills.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Interviews, selects, supervises, and evaluates performance of Activity Therapy Specialist. Works to correct performance problems as needed, including recommending disciplinary actions to the Director of Residential Services
• Leads and practices activity programing in accordance with CARE principles and uses TCI methods to anticipate, de-escalate and manage challenging behaviors consistent with each youth’s Individual Crisis Intervention Plan.
• Responsible for engaging youth in individual and group therapeutic interventions consistent with youths’ Individual Treatment Plans.
• Records Medicaid billable therapeutic interventions in accordance with Medicaid Rule 140 daily.
• Responsible for researching and identifying activities that are engaging and fun and maximizes participation and successful implementation, including positive transitions into and out of activities, through careful planning and attention to detail.
• Coordinates and arranges recreational activities with the input of youth and milieu staff, and coordinates, coaches and facilitates the participation of youth in IIAA and Special Olympics.
• Identifies and implements activities that impart life skills development.
• Develops collegial and productive working relationships with co-workers and trains milieu staff as needed in the implementation of planned activities.
• Monitors the use and wear of recreational equipment and requests repair, replacement, or new equipment through the Activity Coordinator.
• Expends funds allocated to the Activity Department under the supervision of the Activity Coordinator and documents all expenditures in accordance with agency policy.
• As a mandated reporter of child abuse/neglect, reports alleged incidents of child abuse or neglect that in their professional capacity he/she reasonably suspects to have occurred.
• Participates in performance appraisal, training, and professional development activities.
• Participates in agency, program, and team meetings and staffings as needed or required.
• Ensures that Activity Therapy staff performance standards are upheld, and the agency personnel policies and practices are followed
• Other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualification Requirements

The Activity Therapy Supervisor will be punctual, responsible, and supportive of the agency’s programming, exhibit positive standards of conduct and uphold the agency’s mission and values. Must be certified in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and participate in required refresher trainings and scheduled tests to evidence the ability to practice TCI with fidelity to the model. Must be trained in the agency-wide CARE practice model and undertake activities with fidelity to that model.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Human Services field preferred. High school graduate or GED required with 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age. Must have a valid Driver's license and car insurance
• Must demonstrate empathy and an understanding of the impact of trauma on youth.
• Must demonstrate an ability to positively engage youth and lead group activities.
• Ability to receive a DCFS/CANTS Clearance.
  
  

Salary Description

$24.20 and hour -$36.30 an hour
