Job Summary
The R&D Technical Documentation Specialist is responsible for data accuracy and consistency in external-facing R&D documents, including formulas, specifications, and process instructions; they track and manage approvals to meet R&D project timelines. The R&D Technical Documentation Specialist creates data management standards and provides training for R&D group to maintain standards. The R&D Technical Documentation Specialist maintains data integrity in key software / databases such as PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and ELN (Electronic Lab Notebook).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and ensures compliance to standard forms / templates for ingredient specifications, formulas, process instructions, SOPs, experiments, etc.
- Reviews and accurately enters and updates formulas, specifications, and process instructions in PLM system with information provided by R&D Scientists and Engineers
- Monitors PLM approvals : Follows up with suppliers and approvers to meet R&D timelines
- Actively engaged and eventual owner of PLM and ELN implementation projects
- Works cross-functionally with Master Data and Project Management teams to maintain databases
- Maintains PLM system ensuring approvals and obsolescence's are completed on time
- Maintains ELN system ensuring compliance, data organization, experiments completed / signed, updating templates, and implementing software updates
- Develops data management standards and best practices for R&D Team and delivers training as needed
- Collaborates with other departments to achieve goals (FSQ, IT, RA etc.)
- Additional duties may be assigned
