Job Description

Job Responsibilities :

Create, write and optimize CNC programs using CAD / CAM software and manual G Code to create complex parts on 3-axis mills, 3 2 / 5-axis mill machining centers and lathes with live tooling.
Interpreting technical drawings, blueprints and samples to convert to a machining program
Specifies and procures cutting tools and fixtures to be used in machining components.
Lead the machine shop team when needed on proper operation of CNC programs created; No Direct Reports. Communicate Set up, position, load materials and operation of jobs in a variety of machines : CNC mills, CNC lathes, CNC Saw, and CNC Laser.
Creates set up sheets, procedures and documentation for the manufacturing process.
Identify opportunities to reduce part machining time by modifying programming, fixtures, tooling, or improving setup while maintaining quality standards.
Required to complete documentation in an ISO setting when applicable.
Perform basic machine maintenance such as cleaning and sharpening
Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines as they arise, escalating outside maintenance or repair when needed.
Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
Coordinate with multiple departments to assist in quotation process.
Assist with other projects as instructed by management, if needed.

Qualifications for CNC Programmer :

Completion of Vocational School, apprenticeship training or equivalent.

5 years' experience with CAD / CAM programming experience in a 3-5 axis environment preferred. Some experience with Fusion360 a plus.

Proficient at generating G-code CNC programs using CAM software. Can program G-code manually.

Experience working in a LEAN / 5S, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement environment a Plus.

Proficient at interpreting technical drawings and blueprints with knowledge of GD&T to convert print to a machined program.

Experience within the Machining trade : Fanuc Controls, Set-ups, and able to perform hands-on work as required.

Proficient computer skills : CAD / CAM software, Microsoft Excel, Word etc.
