What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Warehouse Manager position at HPP Industrial?
The purpose of this position is to assist the Warehouse Manager with all functions including loading, unloading, filling orders from the sales division or via email or phone, etc. Generate purchase orders as necessary, mixing paint products as necessary to meet customer needs, ensure there are enough products in the warehouse for usual orders. The Assistant Warehouse Manager is required to exercise considerable independent judgment in administering and managing the warehouse with the warehouse manager and is responsible for maintaining and
improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under their direction and control.
Essential Job Functions:

- Fill orders for products ordered through purchase orders, from the sales division, from customers at counter and via email, phone, website, etc.
- Use forklift to load products for sale into truck for delivery, load products that are sent by outside vendors (fed ex, ups, pallatize orders, etc.). Use forklift to unload new products and place them on appropriate shelving.
- Stocking shelves with or without a forklift
- Calibrate Tint Machines and Color Eyes.
- Fill in for the driver as necessary to deliver products to customers.
- Generate purchase orders as necessary to fill orders and to purchase new products to fill the warehouse.
- Check order portal daily to handle customer requests
- Prepare routing schedule for deliveries via company truck
- Receive Technical Sheets and other data from Administration
- Provide bills for products purchased to Bookkeeping/Accounting
- Perform job functions in a safe and hazard-free environment; conduct accident and
incident investigations within their area of responsibility; examine the root cause of all accidents and determine whether the incident or accident was preventable.
- Complete paperwork related to spills.
- Perform similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
- Continue training and professional development and keep current with trends.
- Assist other department staff as needed to promote a team effort to serve the customers.
- Fill in for Warehouse Manager during absences
Qualifications:
Qualifications required would be with a High School Diploma and over 4 years warehouse
and/or paint company experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and
work experience.
Special Requirements:
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. with a good driving record. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of warehouse operations
- Knowledge of paint products and use of products for different applications
- Ability to operate a forklift to load and unload
- Ability to use customer service computerized system
- Ability to prepare pallets of products for shipping
- Ability to keep track of inventory and order supplies
- Physical ability to stand all day during shift
- Ability to learn about all the products and uses that are stored in the warehouse
- Excellent customer service skills
Job Environment:
- Work performed in moderately noisy office and warehouse with regular interruptions from the customers by phone, computer or in person; occasionally required to drive delivery truck under possible adverse weather conditions, including extreme hot and cold.
- Operation of truck, forklift, cellular and other telephone, personal computer, copier and other standard office equipment.
- Make frequent contact with employees, customers, drivers, and delivery companies.
- Communication is frequently in person, by telephone, mail, in writing and e-mail; contacts require a high level of courtesy and confidentiality.
- Errors in judgment or omissions could result in monetary loss or rework, delay in service, injuries to others as it relates to worker compensation program and OSHA regulations
Vision Requirements:
- Close vision (i.e. clear vision at 20 inches or less)
- Distance vision (i.e. clear vision at 20 feet or more)
- Color vision (i.e. ability to identify and distinguish colors)
- Peripheral vision (i.e. ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or left and right while the eyes are fixed on a given point)
- Depth perception (i.e. three dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
