Purchasing & Inventory Specialist β Lake Forest, CA (Consumer Products)
Summary
This position will be responsible for developing a global purchasing plan and managing our purchasing team towards our goals. This includes procuring and purchasing products internationally with long lead times for the sales organization, supporting North and South America. This role also involves working with our sales and R&D teams on product forecasting, demand planning and product set up. You will be working with our global factories on forecast and purchases to ensure correct information and timing for production.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Determining appropriate inventory levels and re-order values based on sales trends, forecasting and production plans.
- Supervise the purchasing team
- Developing a global purchasing plan with Sales and R & D
- Work with affiliated and outside international factories on purchase forecasts and plans
- Develop purchase orders for our factories for all products (PO Creation)
- Ensure/follow through lead times and timely delivery of products.
- Maintain and manage inventory levels.
- Work with accounting and warehouse departments to resolve discrepancies.
- Verify purchase orders with available stock via comparison to the master lists.
- Provide reports on inventory vs sales
- Recognizing opportunities to improve processes in order to establish optimum inventory levels and accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Associates degree highly preferred
- 4 years of proven work experience in Purchasing and Inventory or similar role with 2 years supervisory experience
- Experience creating and managing global purchasing strategies with long lead times and inventory control processes.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and with business application software, purchasing and resource planning systems. Experience with Microsoft NAV, GP or AX highly beneficial.
