What You'll Do :
As the Lead Engineer you will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of marine furniture systems, as well as any related introduction tasks and problem-solving. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient production, quality control, and continuous improvement within the furniture engineering department. The Lead Engineer will also play a crucial role in optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Your Accountabilities in the Role :
Designs and develops the form and function of the furniture to ensure high quality, ease of installation, and sustainability.Leads and manages the marine furniture projects from concept through installation, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and quality objectives are met.Creates prototype and mock up models in CAD / 3D design to test and approve design feasibility.Designs jigs, fixtures, and other tooling to support manufacturing operations in the installation process.Analyzes the furniture manufacturing processes for installation to identify areas of efficiency and enhancements.Develops and executes process improvement projects to enhance product quality, reduce cycle time, and lower costs.Conducts root cause analysis on product defects and implements corrective actions.Position Requirements :
Education : Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or similar field; or equivalent combination of education and course work will be considered.Experience : 3 years of experience in furniture or upholstery specific engineering and production, or a related field. Familiar with Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.Certification(s) : CAD certifications are a plus but not required.Functional Skills : Strong attention to detail and thoroughness with the ability to execute work and complete projects on time; can look at the big picture, analyze, and conceptualize outcomes to get things done well and maximize efficiencies for the area and on the production floor; high level of prioritization, organization, and planning skills required; strong mechanical aptitude also needed. Forward-thinking with the ability to problem-solve and manage projects independently. Strong time-management skills with the ability to work within and manage a budget. Proficient in designing and drafting.Technology Skills : Proficient skillset in Inventor AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other similar AutoCAD / Modeling Software experience; also proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word / Excel).Language Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skillset to work with various levels within the organization.
