We are seeking a Hospitality Recruiter to help us build and maintain a strong, talented team. The ideal candidate has experience in high-volume recruiting, hospitality hiring, and California labor law compliance. This is a hands-on recruiting role focused on sourcing, interviewing, and hiring top talent for front- and back-of-house positions.
Key Responsibilities1. Full-Cycle Recruiting & Hiring (Restaurant & Hospitality Staff)
- Manage end-to-end recruitment for front-of-house (servers, hosts, bartenders) and back-of-house (cooks, dishwashers, prep staff, kitchen managers).
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates through online sourcing, referrals, and local networking.
- Conduct phone screenings, in-person interviews, and hiring events to identify top talent quickly.
- Collaborate with restaurant managers to assess hiring needs and staffing gaps.
2. Candidate Sourcing & Outreach
- Utilize job boards (really, Craigslist, ZipRecruiter, Facebook Jobs, Poached) and social media recruiting (LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and industry forums).
- Attend job fairs, networking events, and industry meetups to attract top hospitality talent.
- Develop and execute employee referral programs and incentive-based hiring strategies.
3. Hiring Compliance & Onboarding (California-Specific Laws)
- Ensure compliance with California hiring laws, including Ban the Box, salary transparency, and background check regulations.
- Oversee I-9 verification, E-Verify, and work authorization compliance.
- Work with HR and management to ensure fair hiring practices and proper classification of employees (W-2 vs. independent contractor laws, AB5 compliance).
- Coordinate pre-employment paperwork, onboarding, and orientation sessions for new hires.
4. Employer Branding & Recruitment Marketing
- Craft engaging job descriptions and employer branding materials to attract top-tier candidates.
- Build and maintain the company’s careers page, social media presence, and hiring ads.
- Manage Glassdoor, really, and Yelp employer profiles to maintain a positive employer reputation.
5. HR Support & Retention Strategies
- Partner with HR to track hiring success rates, retention trends, and turnover metrics.
- Assist in exit interviews and provide feedback for improving hiring and retention efforts.
- Work with management to create competitive hiring strategies, pay structures, and growth opportunities to reduce turnover.
RequirementsExperience & Skills
- 2 years of recruiting experience (hospitality, restaurant, or high-volume industries preferred).
- Strong knowledge of California labor laws related to hiring and employment.
- Proven experience with high-volume recruiting and fast-paced hiring.
- Proficiency in ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) like Workstream, Greenhouse, or JazzHR.
- Experience using social media, job boards, and networking to source candidates.
- Bilingual in Spanish & English (Preferred) to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required, but a Plus)
- Hospitality or restaurant industry experience.
- HR or recruiting certifications (LinkedIn Certified Recruiter, AIRS, SHRM-Talent Acquisition).
- Experience with payroll and HR systems (ADP, Paychex, 7 Shifts, JotForm, Slack).
