Summary
We are currently seeking a Lead Structural Engineer for our Water business line. If you are interested in working with a small, high-powered group of structural engineers and designers, then this is a great opportunity. This role will allow you to design the buildings and internal process structures for water and wastewater treatment facilities. A successful candidate is one who is looking to progress their career by working alongside Lead Structural Engineers and ultimately grow to lead structural projects. You will have to make significant design decisions with support from Lead Engineers. Typical designs include reinforced concrete structures and/or tanks (including water retention), masonry and/or precast concrete buildings, general analysis of existing buildings and facilities, and design of ancillary items required to support an overall project such as pipe supports, railings, platforms, catwalks, etc. You will be working alongside a group of experienced and knowledgeable structural engineers and designers with diverse backgrounds in an environment that fosters collaboration and development for the team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Uses professional judgment to independently complete engineering tasks within federal, state, and local established criteria.
- Completes major design tasks with limited supervision that meet the needs of internal and external customers, primarily design of Water/Wastewater and Utility based projects, primarily with concrete, masonry, and steel design.
- Ensures the accuracy of completed tasks using established HR Green QA/QC processes established for each project.
- Assists the Client in bidding or contractor selection if authorized by the Project Manager.
- Completes field observation, inspection and data collection duties as necessary.
- Responds to contractor questions and issues and prepares and issues project addenda as needed.
- Recommends and prepares change orders, if authorized by the Project Manager.
- May participate in preparation of engineering services proposals, including the calculation/estimation of time schedules and costs of the proposed work.
- Signs and seals engineering documents as an authorized representative of the company.
- Independently communicates on technical matters with the client.
- Under the direction of the Project Manager or Lead Engineer, may assign and manage tasks and schedules to Staff Engineer (I/II) and non-exempt project team members.
- Participates in technical and professional associations related to their area of expertise.
Qualifications
- Water experience is preferred, but not required.
- Must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year or graduate engineering university in a relevant discipline (civil w/ structural specialty, structural, architectural, etc.)
- Professionally registered (P.E.) in one or more states in which HR Green, Inc. conducts business (or ability to obtain such registration within six months of employment). Registration in the state of Texas, or the ability to receive reciprocity, is highly desired.
- S.E. certification preferred, but not required.
- Possess 7 or more years of design/engineering experience and a demonstrated ability to act as an authorized agent of the company to sign engineering documents.
- Proficient knowledge of office software (Word, Excel, Bluebeam, etc.).
- Working knowledge in office automation, CADD, and engineering automation tools. AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Revit preferred.
- Advance knowledge of structural design software and automation software for component design (Excel, Mathcad). RISA and STAAD experience preferred.
- Must possess strong technical verbal and writing skills and be able to read technical literature and engineering plans.
- Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to apply professional knowledge to the solution of both routine and non-routine tasks and engineering activities.
- The employee must be capable of driving/operating a motor vehicle for company business and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
Compensation Range
$101,200.00 - $161,600.00
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Minnesota Omnibus Labor and Industry Policy Bill Article 7 Section 2 and the Illinois Salary Transparency amendment to the Equal Pay Act of 2003. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate, after a qualifying period, in our performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s).
