Summary
Responsible for maintaining the firm’s books, and for performing all of the fiscal duties for HR Green. Prepares special reports designed to show the firm’s fiscal performance. Responsible for producing and distributing all job costs accounting reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists Business Unit Leaders and Executive Team in preparation of annual budgets and consolidates these budgets into an annual budget.
- Supervises the preparation of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and monthly posting to the general ledger.
- Supervises computer programming of accounting functions.
- Supervises the preparation of management reports.
- Prepares and distributes job costs accounting reports to the Business Unit Leaders.
- Changes accounting systems and procedures as required to complete. assignments on a timely and accurate basis.
- Analyzes various accounting reports, and advises the President when it appears that a variance from budget goals may be likely.
- Deals with bankers and auditors.
- Supervises the preparation of taxes.
- Recommends the best short-term investments for extra cash.
- Assures the accuracy of every report or task generated by the Accounting Department.
- Assigns work to subordinates, explains the work, answers questions, and takes corrective steps to resolve mistakes.
- Observes ways the work can be streamlined and takes corrective steps to change existing accounting procedures.
- Supervises the banking of receivables.
- Deals with the computer consultants on computer hardware and software matters.
- Performs limited duty in contracts supervision including:
- Keeping the master files of all signed agreements between clients.
- Obtain from Business Unit Leaders and Executives billing instructions and schedules for all accounts.
- Encourage Project Managers to bill all accounts monthly.
Education and Experience
- Must have a degree in Accounting and at least 10 years’ experience in accounting roles within a service industry business.
- Must have good working understanding of how computers can be used to simplify the accounting reporting process.
