Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated 2D Modeling Hydrology & Hydraulics (H&H) Senior Engineer to join our Water Resources team. This role will act as a technical resource for 2D modeling, utilizing TUFLOW, XPSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, and other modeling software to support floodplain mapping, stormwater management, and infrastructure design projects. The ideal candidate must have experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software and a strong understanding of water resources engineering principles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement 2D hydraulic models for floodplain studies, drainage design, and stormwater management projects.
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for riverine systems, urban drainage, and infrastructure projects.
- Utilize modeling software such as HEC-RAS 2D, SRH-2D, TUFLOW, XPSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, or other industry-standard tools.
- Perform GIS-based spatial analysis for floodplain mapping and watershed modeling.
- Support the preparation of technical reports, model documentation, and regulatory submittals.
- Work closely with project teams to develop design solutions for stormwater conveyance, culverts, levees, dams, and other water-related infrastructure.
- Conduct field investigations, data collection, and site assessments as needed.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including FEMA, USACE, and other regulatory agencies.
- Assist in preparing proposals and cost estimates for water resources projects.
Education and Experience
- 10 years of experience in H&H modeling, with a focus on 2D hydraulic modeling.
- Proficiency in HEC-RAS (1D/2D), SRH-2D, or similar modeling software.
- Experience using ArcGIS/QGIS for spatial analysis and data processing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in water resources engineering.
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Hydrology, or a related field.
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, or other programming tools for data analysis and automation.
- Familiarity with stormwater modeling software such as SWMM, ICPR, or InfoWorks ICM.
Compensation Range
$108,900.00 - $202,800.00
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Minnesota Omnibus Labor and Industry Policy Bill Article 7 Section 2, the Illinois Salary Transparency amendment to the Equal Pay Act of 2003, the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and California SB 1162. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate, after a qualifying period, in our performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s).
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
Must possess a current, valid Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and have the ability to obtain licensure in one or more other states in which HR Green conducts business. The employee must be capable of driving/operating a motor vehicle for company business, and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
