Bluff View Art District is a family-owned and operated historic neighborhood filled with restaurants, a coffee house, art gallery, historic Bed & Breakfast, and plenty of gardens, plazas and courtyards where you can relax and rejuvenate. This is Chattanooga's first art district and stretches over 1.5 city blocks, set high atop stone cliffs that plunge into the river below. From this bluff front location, you will have breathtaking views of the Tennessee River, downtown Chattanooga, and the Walnut Street Bridge.
Title: Event Server
SUMMARY
The Event Server exhibits a professional presence, excellent customer service, and communication skills, and works efficiently with a team to set up, break down, and provide food and beverage service for guests at corporate and private events, all in an effort to achieve the highest guest service and satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Presents in a professional manner at all times.
· Exhibits the ability to work in a variety of venues including interior and exterior venues.
· Participates in the venue set up and break down under the direction of Event Manager and/or Venue Manager. Examples include but are not limited to moving tables, chairs, serving equipment and other large wedding décor into their assigned location; counting, washing, detailing, and placing all eating utensils, glassware, dishes and serving pieces; and preparing and placing event signage and menus.
· Provides positive guest interaction while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner.
· Greets guests as they arrive to the event, directs them to the right table or seat if appropriate and assists them in finding necessary services and features of the event.
· Exhibits ample knowledge of food, wine, and cocktails. Accordingly, demonstrates knowledge of the menu for each function and is able to explain the major ingredients and preparation methods for each item offered, in an effort to help guests make proper food and beverage selections. Relays requests and special instructions to the kitchen and bar.
· Participates in the plating of food, filling and replenishing of buffet food, pouring of wine, and mixing of cocktails.
· Demonstrates knowledge of multiple types of meal service. For example, plated style, cocktail style or buffet style.
· Maintains a professional dining experience, while serving food and beverages to guests, delivering items, fulfilling guest’s needs, removing courses, replenishing utensils and refilling beverages.
· Maintains a team mentality by assisting and supporting team members, to meet guest satisfaction, as well as the demands of the event venue.
· Keeps workspaces clean and always organized.
· Follows money handling procedures when serving beverages, as directed by Event Manager and/or Venue manager.
· Protects Bluff View Art District and guests by adhering to the alcohol beverage control policies.
· Keeps guests and staff members safe by following all health, safety, and quality regulations.
· Actively seeks to improve skills, by setting and achieving personal development goals.
· Works varied day or night shift hours, throughout the weekdays, weekend, and some holidays.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Minimum of one (1) year of professional work experience in banquet operations or a restaurant, with front-of-the-house operations.
· At least two (2) years of bartending experience.
· At least one (1) year of bartending experience in a fine dining setting.
· Ability to multitask and remain calm in stressful situations.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer service.
· Excellent time management and organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices.
· Ability to operate point-of-sale systems.
· Ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently, and professionally.
· Knowledge of food, wine, and cocktails.
PREFERRED:
· Associate degree (or higher).
· Two (2) years or more of professional work experience in banquet operations or restaurant, with front-of-the-house operations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
· Excellent verbal and written communication should be professional and accurate.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
· Understanding of simple math, as it relates to servicing event guests and providing quantities of food and beverages sold event billing.
REASONING ABILITY
· Analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
· Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (ABC) Server Permit
· Preferred: ServSafe certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
· Starting & On the Job Training Hourly Rate of Pay: $17.50
· Hourly Rate of Pay (when training isn't being conducted) : $35.00 per hour
· Medical, Dental, Vision for Full-Time Employee = employer pays a minimum of 50% of employee’s premium, indexed annually based on ACA affordability guidelines. (Part-time employee is not eligible for health benefits.)
· Discounts on food are offered to the Employee at all entities, for the Employee’s meals or breaks while the Employee is on duty.
· Flexible schedule, as determined by the Event Manager and in accordance with event needs.
· Holidays = Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are the only recognized holidays for the restaurants, although the Inn and Bakery are open; position availability is at the discretion of the Director of Operations and the General Manager.
