Loss Prevention Manager
Location: Remote with Travel (California & Michigan)

We are seeking a Loss Prevention Manager to oversee security and theft prevention for our five cannabis retail locations—two in California and three in Michigan. This role is critical in safeguarding our inventory, cash flow, and store operations by developing and enforcing loss prevention policies, investigating theft, and training staff on security protocols.
Position Summary:
The Loss Prevention Manager will design and implement loss prevention SOPs, conduct investigations, and train retail employees on theft deterrence—focusing on employee-related theft as well as store-level security risks. This role requires expertise in loss prevention strategies, surveillance systems, and compliance within the cannabis industry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop & Implement Loss Prevention SOPs
- Establish comprehensive SOPs for preventing and identifying internal and external theft.
- Implement best practices for cash handling, POS monitoring, and inventory controls.
- Ensure all security policies comply with cannabis industry regulations in California and Michigan.
2. Investigations & Security Audits
- Conduct internal theft investigations and collaborate with HR on disciplinary action when necessary.
- Perform routine audits of POS transactions, cash reconciliation, and inventory tracking.
- Oversee camera surveillance review and compliance with security system protocols.
3. Employee & Store Security Training
- Develop training programs for retail employees on loss prevention best practices.
- Train staff and managers on recognizing and reporting suspicious activity.
- Implement employee security protocols such as bag checks and restricted access procedures.
4. Compliance & Regulatory Security
- Maintain records of security incidents, investigations, and loss prevention reports.
- Ensure adherence to cannabis retail security regulations in California & Michigan.
- Work closely with state and local regulatory agencies on compliance-related security matters.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in Loss Prevention or Security Management, preferably in high-risk retail environments (cannabis, luxury goods, banking, or grocery).
- Strong knowledge of POS systems, surveillance technology, and cash handling procedures.
- Experience in internal investigations, employee theft detection, and security audits.
- Familiarity with cannabis industry regulations related to security and compliance.
- Ability to train employees and management on loss prevention and security best practices.
- Willingness to travel to all retail locations in California and Michigan as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cannabis industry loss prevention experience.
- Certification in Loss Prevention or Security Management (e.g., LPQ, LPC).
- Experience working with state compliance agencies.
