Aerospace Verisurf Quality Inspector

Summary

The position of Inspector will be responsible for the first article, in-process, and final inspection; including but not limited to: fabricated parts, weldments, machined parts, tools, and assemblies. Inspector will be required to use various metrology tools to measure and compare actual features on components to the part requirements

Essential Functions

• Must be able to properly document inspection, prepare first article documentation and certification packages.
• Perform in-process and final inspections on product and perform product build documentation review and end-item data package review.
• Generate nonconformance reports for discrepancies discovered during inspection processes.
• The ability to inspect using conventional inspection tools.
• Interpret complicated aerospace drawings and specifications.
• The ability to use CMM’s (Verisurf Software), Faro Arms, Romer Arms, and various inspection devices.

Required:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in Aerospace Quality Assurance with relevant experience in Aerospace and Mechanical field of work in the performance of technical job function.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, comparators, and gages, etc.)
• Must be able to read engineering documentation and inspect to drawings and parts lists, inspection plans, and supplemental instructions.
• Ability to relate to officials, staff, and public in a courteous manner
• Able to use Microsoft applications and ability to learn new computer programs/applications easily.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed oral or written instructions.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in the inspection of advanced materials such as high strength aluminum alloys, precipitation hardened steels, Inconel titanium and maraging steel (super alloys)
• Experience in the interpretation of AMS, AWS/ASME, ASTM standards
• Experience in inspecting products made via manufacturing processes such as: MIG, TIG, EB, orbital tube welding
• NAS 410 level II certification in dye penetrant and visual inspection
• Knowledge of NASA 5009 standards
• Problem solving tools and techniques: practical problem solving (PPS), eight disciples (8D)
• Basic understanding of lean principles: 5S, kaizen, continuous improvement initiatives
• Basic computer skills: Microsoft applications - Word, Power Point, Excel

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift 25 lbs unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, and walk

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
