The Microbiology Lab Supervisor will assist and support the Microbiology Lab Director with planning and leading Microbiology Traditional team to ensure efficient operations. They will also guides and develops the tasks performed by the employees in the Microbiology Laboratory to ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures and regulatory standards.
The Microbiology Lab Supervisor will:
Assist the Director in the selection, training, orientation, evaluation, and development of staff to be successful and engaged in their positions on our team.
Communicate training issues to applicable personnel to provide continuity and consistency of training and optimal learning.
Assist the Director in the development and management of all standard operating procedures for the uniformity and quality of operations in keeping with current Good Manufacturing Practices.
Order supplies and reviews purchases being submitted for the lab.
Assign work to staff to maintain efficient and accurate laboratory testing and performance.
Oversee the scheduling of all monthly maintenance and QC, quality program, and proficiency testing.
Perform Microbiology Technologist and/or Record Review tasks when required by staffing and workload levels.
Review and approves reports and quality control records; maintains files on these records.
Develop and introduce new testing procedures or activities to ensure that testing is kept abreast of current technology.
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in a biological science
ASCP or equivalent
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible leadership experience and a minimum of five years’ experience as a MT/CLS/MLS in a blood center, hospital laboratory or transfusion service.
