What are the responsibilities and job description for the Night Shift - Knitter position at HR Services Brand?
Position Summary: The Knitter will produce first quality fabric, with minimum waste, by paying special attention to machines, the fabric, and the yarn in an efficient and safe manner.
Position Responsibilities:
- Keep eight (8) knitting machine assignments running efficiently to produce maximum production.
- Stop machines, mark, and cut fabric to check for defects (inside and outside) at shift change and during the shift if machine is known to be making defects.
- Check each machine throughout the shift for defects. Report machines making defects to the Knitting Mechanic and/or Supervisor so they can be repaired.
- Keep machines fully creeled with yarn with assistance from Creeler as assigned by Supervisor.
- Clean machines and creel boxes inside and outside and dust with compressed air the creeled yarn.
- Doff rolls of fabric, fill out and place production ticket with each roll, and send to the inspection department.
- Ensure that knitting production ticket is marked by the Knitting Mechanic for any roll where the knitting machine was repaired by a Knitting Mechanic while the roll was produced.
- Knitters are responsible for fixing end out, changing bad needles, and helping to change yarn at style change.
- Follow all safety procedures/policies and advise management of any unsafe conditions.
- Keep work area neat and clean.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Role Qualifications/Essential Skills and Experience:
- Must be able to read and verify yarns printed on knitting tickets.
- Must be able to visually identify knitting defects in the fabric.
