What are the responsibilities and job description for the Workroom Operator I position at HR Services Brand?
Position Summary: Workroom Operator duties include, but are not limited to: Cut to measure CTM, Custom Drapery Assembly (sewing and non-sewing), Roller Shade Fabrication, and Top Treatments (Roman Shades, Valances, Cornices and Headboards.)
Position Responsibilities:
- Inspects raw materials prior to cutting track, fabric or materials.
- Cuts track and assembles hardware or cuts fabric according to custom specifications and assembles product.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure or ruler.
- Possess great attention to detail.
- Assists Supervisor in identifying and tracking scrap for recycling and/or return to customer.
- Hand cutting of drapery and shades includes the use of scissors, snips, seam rippers and rotary cutters at various stages of production.
- Sewing is done according to spec, will use straight needle, double needle or blind-stitch conveyor, surging conveyor machines depending on type of drapery being fabricated.
- Use of pneumatic staplers to upholster/ attach fabrics (Top Treatments)
- Use of Impulse fabric welding equipment (Roller Shade)
- Assembles, inspects finished product and pulls staples if used during fabrication process.
- Packages and labels finished product to be sent to warehouse for shipping.
- Cleans machines and maintains work area. Helps take out trash.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed, relative to the function of the Workroom Operator role and production demands.
Role Qualifications/Essential Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently, to complete an assigned task.
- Ability to use single and double needle machines and serge machines (Drapery).
- Able to receive and follow instructions as given.
- Able to use chop saws, small hand tools and power tools as needed. (CTM, Roller Shade, Top Treatments)
- Effective communication skills.
- Must be able to push, pull and drag various fabrics through the production process.
- Must be able to twist, bend, lift, sit or stand for most of the day.
