The Opportunity :
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accounting Manager with a specialization in trust and estate accounting. This is a hands-on role that requires a deep understanding of trust and estate taxation, compliance, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have exceptional technical expertise, a CPA certification, and a passion for working with high-net-worth clients and complex financial structures.
Key Responsibilities :
Trust and Estate Accounting : Oversee and manage the accounting and financial reporting for trusts and estates, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Tax Compliance : Work closely with the tax team to ensure timely and accurate preparation of trust, estate, and gift tax returns (Forms 1041, 706, and 709).
Financial Analysis and Reporting : Prepare and review financial statements for trusts and estates, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders, including trustees and beneficiaries.
Cash Flow Management : Monitor and manage cash flow for trusts and estates, including distributions, funding, and investment oversight.
Audit and Reconciliation : Lead reconciliation efforts for trust accounts and ensure proper documentation for audits and reviews.
Client Interaction : Serve as a primary point of contact for trustees, beneficiaries, and other advisors, providing expert guidance on financial matters.
Process Improvement : I dentify opportunities to enhance processes and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy in trust and estate accounting functions.
Team Support : Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff, fostering their growth and development.
Qualifications :
Education : Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Masters preferred).
Certification : CPA license is required.
Experience : 7 years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on trust and estate accounting. Background in public accounting, private wealth management, or a family office is highly desirable.
Technical Expertise : Proficient in accounting software and tax preparation tools (e.g., QuickBooks, ProSystem fx, or similar).
In-depth knowledge of trust and estate tax laws, regulations, and financial management best practices.
Soft Skills :
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a client-focused mindset. Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
