What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUD Counselor position at hr360?
The SUD Counselor I is an integral part of an interdisciplinary team that supports our clients through the assessment of their needs and strengths in support of their health and recovery. SUD Counselor I will perform counseling in individual and group setting, deliver curricula in accordance with program-specific requirements and case management, and assist clients in navigating systems of care while providing a supportive treatment environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Individual Treatment Responsibilities:
Treats clients with respect and dignity, interacting with them in a compassionate, non-judgmental manner that honors their culture. Facilitates individual counseling sessions at least weekly with each client on the caseload. Offers clinical support and counseling to assist clients in meeting their treatment goals including providing feedback, setting boundaries, and celebrating successes. Proactively links clients to both internal and external resources based on their treatment needs and follows up on the progress/status. Coordinates transition plans and completes the discharge paperwork/process.
Treatment Setting Responsibilities:
Collaborates with each client as well as other collateral resources to assess client’s treatment needs and develop/maintain treatment plans. Facilitates group counseling sessions and teaches classes on various treatment-related topics. Performs frequent house runs to ensure and maintain the safety and security of the facility. When assigned, holds facility keys, and ensures client medications are securely stored and properly accounted for. Performs crisis intervention to defuse situations before they escalate and communicates with treatment team as unforeseen situations arise. Completes and attends required trainings and meetings for the agency. Participates in handling food and supply deliveries and obtains food from the central location as needed. Holds community meetings and assists with client celebrations and events.
Documentation Responsibilities:
Collaborates with each caseload client and other available internal and external resources to develop/maintain treatment plans, problem lists, transition/discharge plans, progress notes and appropriate updates in support of the health and recovery needs of the client.
Properly documents all individual and group counseling sessions, intake and assessments, completes discharge paperwork and referrals in timely manner as required by DMC and county. Maintains accurate records by entering documentation of all services into various electronic systems for all clients in accordance with guidelines established by HealthRIGHT 360 to satisfy internal and external evaluating requirements.
Responds to record updates and corrections in a timely manner to ensure documentation compliance and accuracy. Maintains accurate and detailed shift logs and submits incident reports and shares the information with the team.
Work on weekends and holidays as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Certification, Licensure
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in health and human services, social work, psychology, or other related field preferred.
Must be registered as an Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor or as an SUD Counselor with CA approved certifying agency (CCAPP, CADTP, or CAADE).
Current First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Must complete background check and livescan clearance
