Job Summary
HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for an experienced and energetic Flatwork Concrete Finisher. HRI offers a competitive salary, along with an exceptional employee compensation package.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the HRI safety culture and other Company strategic initiatives
- Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly
- Signals concrete deliverer to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete.
- Moves discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms.
- Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms with rake or shovel.
- Molds expansion joints and edges.
- Sprinkles colored stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish.
- Operate a variety of equipment including trucks, backhoes, air compressors, hydro hammers, jackhammers, pumps, loaders, concrete saws and mixers, hammer drills, generators and hand tools, and equipment.
- Directs subgrade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms.
- Breaks up and repairs old concrete surfaces.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in concrete finishing preferred
- Valid drivers’ license with ability to maintain a clean driving record required
Skills
- Must comply will all DOT regulations
- Applicants must be able to work varying shifts and long hours dependent on market demands
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements
- Proven track record working safely
- Good work ethic, professional, and positive attitude
- Travel as required
Physical Requirements
- Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
- Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
- Frequent exposure to loud noise
- Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
- Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
