SUMMARY
The Property Accountant is responsible for all accounting functions such as bank reconciliations, monthly and end-of-the-year tasks, and other accounting duties as assigned.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for completing all property accounting functions
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Record monthly adjusting and accrual entries
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger; Review periodic reports of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and correct errors before the close of the accounting period
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements/reporting packages
- Coordinate with property managers on tenant ledger adjustments, payables, and various other requests
- Act as the primary point of contact for accounting-related questions from both internal property managers and external clients
- Attend owner meetings, as necessary
- Assist management with audit requests, special projects, and other tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field required
- Knowledge of accounting principles
- Accrual basis accounting experience, a plus
- Property accounting experience, a plus
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office products
