Position Overview: The Labor Relations Specialist is responsible for various general human resources, with a focus on labor tasks to enhance the overall productivity and effectiveness of the department. This individual will serve as a point of contact for specific areas of the department (i.e. labor relations, process improvements, and training and development initiatives) and will function as the second chair during union negotiations.
- Discipline and dispute administration
- Contract and grievance administration. Meet with the union to resolve grievances at your level based on CBA.
- Seek out cost and time savings initiatives
- Lead investigations and resolution of personnel relations issues
- Counsel’s employees concerning work-related problems and conducts termination/exit interviews, providing feedback to management when necessary
- Driving initiatives to promote workforce inclusion and company policies related to an inclusive environment
- Write position descriptions, employee communications, and personnel policy statements
- Screening resumes and applications and interview applicants and make an offer of employment
- Lead succession planning initiatives
- Oversee LOA tracking and compliance
- Lead employee engagement initiatives
- Manage projects and research assignments as required, including analysis of data on assigned projects as necessary
- Assist in the formulation of compensation objectives, manpower goals, personnel policies and procedures
- Coordinate organizational and employee training and development initiatives
- Provide assistance to EH&S representatives where necessary including plant safety investigations
- Conduct analysis and track HR metrics
- Drive initiatives supporting employee engagement, employee recognition and corporate citizenship
- Internal and external customer support as necessary
- ADP: Ensure wage progression increases are verified weekly and processed along with annual wage increases per collective bargaining agreement. Process referral bonuses weekly.

- A minimum of five (5-8) years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist or Labor Relations with at least three (3) years functioning in a plant/manufacturing environment.
- Extensive experience in labor relations
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Previous experience negotiating collective bargaining agreements.
