RECEIVING TEAM MEMBER
Job Summary:
The Part-Time Receiving Team Member is responsible for the accurate and efficient handling of incoming shipments. This role ensures that all deliveries are properly received, inspected, and stored in the appropriate areas while maintaining inventory accuracy and organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, physically capable of handling materials, and committed to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving & Inspection:
- Unload incoming shipments from trucks.
- Inspect deliveries for accuracy, damage, or defects, and report any discrepancies.
- Verify packing slips and invoices against purchase orders to ensure correct quantities and products are received.
Inventory & Organization:
- Properly label and store received materials in designated storage locations.
- Assist with stocking shelves, bins, and yard areas to ensure easy accessibility for sales and customer orders.
- Maintain accurate records of received goods in the inventory management system.
Safety & Equipment Operation:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow all safety protocols to ensure a secure work environment.
- Keep receiving areas, storage spaces, and aisles clean and organized.
Team Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with purchasing, sales, and warehouse teams to ensure inventory levels are up to date.
- Communicate any shipment issues or delays to the appropriate departments.
- Assist in loading customer orders when needed.
- Assist with order pickup as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous experience in a receiving, warehouse, or lumber yard role is preferred.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials (up to 80 lbs.).
- Forklift experience or willingness to become certified in forklift operation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift heavy materials throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions when handling lumber and other materials.
This position is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of inventory flow, providing accurate stock levels, and keeping our hardware and lumber yard well-organized. The Receiving Team Member plays a key role in supporting both internal operations and customer service by ensuring products are available and accounted for.
