Quality Control Lab Technician
Location: Greenville, OH
Contract Duration: 9 months (with potential extension or direct hire)
Compensation: $25/hour (optional benefits available during contract)
Onboarding Requirements: Background check and drug screening
Work Hours Schedule
Training Period (First Month):
- Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
Regular Schedule:
- After training, the work schedule alternates between two shifts:
Day Shift (6:00 AM – 6:30 PM):
- Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday
- Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday
Night Shift (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM):
- Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday
- Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday
This schedule includes a built-in 8 hours of overtime every two weeks. Employees will rotate between day and night shifts periodically.
Job Overview
The Quality Control (QC) Laboratory Technician is responsible for ensuring product quality through physical and chemical analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products. This role supports the manufacturing process and requires flexibility to cover vacations, early-morning training, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Sample Analysis
- Perform routine analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods using techniques such as:
- High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
- Gas Chromatography (GC)
- Particle size analysis, density measurement, viscometry, and other laboratory methods
Data Documentation
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all analytical data in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Report out-of-specification materials to the QC Lab Supervisor for further review
Inventory Management
- Maintain inventory of consumables such as HPLC columns, spare parts, reference standards, and control samples
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine troubleshooting and maintenance on laboratory equipment
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements in laboratory procedures
Compliance
- Adhere to established quality, safety, and environmental standards
Required Qualifications
- Strong math skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of analytical techniques and proper chemical handling (use, storage, and disposal)
- Flexibility to work rotating schedules, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s (BS) or Associate Degree (AS) in a science-related field
- Hands-on experience with HPLC and wet chemistry methods
- Experience in microbiological analysis
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment
Looking For Candidates With:
- Experience in GC, HPLC, pH measurement, SAP, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Background in the manufacturing industry (preferred)
