What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Staff position at HRYMCA?
The Hampshire Regional YMCA operates a beloved outdoor day camp called Camp Norwich in Huntington, MA. We are looking for an independently driven, problem-solving Maintenance staff member for Summer 2025! Camp Norwich sits on beautiful Norwich Lake and features several buildings and cabins, sport courts, trails, and more. The camp serves over 200 children per session, ages 5-14. Our Maintenance staff person will assist with camp setup and breakdown, as well as keeping things clean and operational during the camp season. Position begins April 2025 and ends October 2025.
Job Duties:
- Assist with pre-camp facility setup including dock installation, tent raising, trail clearing, and outdoor & indoor maintenance
- Perform custodial duties during the operation of Camp Norwich including sweeping, mopping, bathroom & locker room sanitizing
- Perform outdoor landscaping duties during operation of camp sessions
- Communicate with HRYMCA Facility Director throughout summer to make them aware of facility or supplies needs
- Assist with shutting down of camp at the end of the summer, including dock storage, lawn maintenance, and facility repair
Qualifications:
- Minimum one year of experience in a maintenance role preferred
- Basic knowledge of problem-solving mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues
- Ability to perform housekeeping and custodial tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, etc.
- Reliable transportation to Huntington, MA at a remote location
