Provides subject matter expertise in small commercial to industrial-size mechanical systems and controls as an integral member of the HSB Equipment Technology Lab team in Hartford, CT. In addition to providing subject matter expertise, a primary goal of this position is to increase our equipment knowledge, identify emerging equipment trends for Industry 4.0 technologies, and drive this learning back through our underwriting, claims and new products business units with the ultimate goal of improving our overall business results.

Education and Exerience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or equivalent work experience is required
- A Master’s degree in Engineering or and MBA is a plus
- Registration as a Professional Engineer is a plus
- 15 years experience working in design, manufacturing, construction, maintenance or operations is required
- Experience or strong knowledge in a specific area to qualify as an expert
- Experience writing technical papers, specifications and evaluation mechanical equipment is a plus
- Knowledge of insurance industry is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Communication skills (verbal and written)
- Presentation skills
- Knowledge of technical and non-technical aspects of Engineering
