The Latin America (LATAM) Rates Trader will be responsible to execute trades in Latin American local markets including interest rate products, such as government bonds, interest rate swaps, futures contracts, interest rate options and other relevant derivatives.
As our LATAM Rates Trader you will:
- Monitor market conditions, identify trading opportunities, and execute trades in a timely manner to maximize profitability
- Assess and manage risk exposure associated with trading positions and develop trading strategies
- Conduct thorough analysis of market data, economic indicators, and geopolitical events to evaluate potential risks and implement appropriate risk management strategies
- Utilize trading platforms, risk management systems, and other relevant technologies to execute trades, monitor positions, and analyze market data
- Stay informed about advancements in trading technology and identify opportunities to enhance trading efficiency and effectiveness
- Adhere to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and compliance guidelines while executing trades
- Collaborate with the research team, economists, traders, and other key market participants, to refine trading strategies and adapt to changing market conditions
- Collaborate with sales and relationship managers to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay of $250,000.
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
- Latin American local markets including interest rate products such as government bonds, interest rate swaps, futures, and options
- Macroeconomic indicators, central bank policies, and geopolitical factors influencing Latin American local markets
- Quantitative analysis techniques, including statistical modeling, data analysis, and financial mathematics
- Working with complex financial models and pricing calculations in FX and Interest Rate cash and derivatives products
- Market analysis tools and platforms such as Bloomberg Terminal, Reuters, or other market data providers to gather real-time market information and perform in-depth analysis
- Risk management software and tools to monitor and manage market, credit, and liquidity risks effectively
- Financial modeling skills, including building and using financial models to evaluate trade opportunities in macro (FX and Interest Rate products) opportunities, and assessing the resulting risks
- Using trading platforms, order management systems, and execution venues specific to macro product suite in Latin-American emerging markets, such as Bloomberg TOMS, TradWeb, Markitwire or similar external solutions
- Various derivatives instruments, such as interest rate swaps, currency swaps, and non-linear products, and trading and managing positions in these instruments
- Regulatory requirements and compliance standards specific to emerging markets local currency trading, including relevant regulatory bodies and reporting requirements governing at least Mexico, the UK and the U.S
- International pertinent financial regulation, more specifically Latin-American including regulations related to capital controls, foreign exchange markets and derivatives markets.
