JOB SUMMARY
The Psychiatrist will provide psychiatric services such as medication management, individual psychiatric counseling. Provides collaboration and continuity with other staff involved with child and his/her family. Responsible for initial psychiatric evaluations/progress notes. Actively participates as a part of a multi-disciplinary team. Will supervise 2nd year Georgetown Child and Adolescent Psychology fellows, working closely with the HSC Health System Psychology Department.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential job duties:
Psychiatric Assessment- provide initial psychiatric evaluation to include a diagnosis and initial plan
Progress Summaries- provide medication monitoring and initial plan
Treatment plan- review and signature of plans including diagnosis
Medication management- prescribe psychiatric medication as indicated. Manage medicine for proper dosage and side effects. Follow-up with effectiveness on symptoms.
Documentation- Psychiatric Evaluations, Progress Notes, Treatment Plan Reviews, and Signatures
Will provide direction and be responsible for management of the Georgetown Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellows rotation including teaching, supervision, and ensuring all fellows are qualified and meet all state and federal regulatory/licensing requirements.
Available for inpatient consults to include psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, medication management and follow-up for urgent psychiatric needs. Also when available, support the inpatient team in managing psychiatric emergencies and transitioning to an appropriate level of care.
Staff relations- productive, effective and professional relationships with all disciplines

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Experience:
2 -3 years of experience in direct care. Clinical experience working with child and adolescent medication management and experience with a multidisciplinary team approach.
License/Certifications:
Board certified or eligible in psychiatry, licensed to practice medicine in the District of Columbia and eligible for Controlled Substance and DEA numbers.
Required Education:
Graduation from an accredited medical school and residency from an accredited medical program.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent will be responsible for the general direction of the outpatient team as it relates to mental health.
