Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational and therapeutic activities for residents.
- Facilitate group activities such as games, arts and crafts, music sessions, and exercise programs.
- Provide one-on-one support to residents who may require additional assistance or encouragement to participate.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure activities align with residents' care plans and individual needs.
- Maintain an organized schedule of events and communicate upcoming activities to residents and their families.
- Document participation levels and gather feedback to improve future programming.
- Support residents with dementia care by creating tailored activities that stimulate cognitive function and promote engagement.
- Foster a warm and inviting environment that encourages social interaction among residents.
Experience
- Previous experience in a nursing home, long-term care facility, or home community care setting is preferred.
- Background in social work or related fields is beneficial but not required.
- Strong skills in event planning and schedule management to effectively coordinate activities.
- A genuine passion for senior care and assisting individuals with varying levels of ability.
- Familiarity with dementia care practices is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff.
