Overview
HSM has an opportunity for an EHS Intern to work in the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) department located at the Corporate Office in Hickory, NC. The EHS Intern will provide assistance and gain expertise by working to support the EHS function within HSM. This internship will provide the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and training in many aspects of communications and development, while also gaining a good understanding of the HSM organization.
Additionally, interns will participate in:
- Weekly Lunch & Learn sessions with ELT members.
- A structured internship project, culminating in a final presentation to leadership.

Responsibilities
- Understands the overall concept of the company, including the brand, customer, product goals, and other industry aspects.
- Accepts designated, business-focus projects to research, propose ideas and solutions, and present final project during the internship.
- Assist with deployment of new EHS Incident Management S/W - Environmental Module
- Assist with deployment of new EHS Incident Management S/W -Asset Management
- Assist with deployment of new EHS Incident Management S/W - Layered Process Audits
Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program or anticipating graduation
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with superior written, verbal and organizational skills
- Excellent computer skills, experience with Microsoft (including Excel) and Adobe a plus
- The ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
