What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment & Maintenance Manager position at HSM?
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Equipment & Maintenance Manager to lead the development and implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) programs across multiple foam manufacturing facilities. This role is being created to standardize equipment care, improve uptime, and extend the lifecycle of critical foam-cutting and fabrication machinery.
• Assess current equipment conditions and maintenance practices at each foam plant.
• Build and implement a company-wide Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedule tailored to each location and machine type.
• Collaborate with Plant Managers and production teams to identify maintenance needs and educate on best practices.
• Maintain an accurate equipment inventory and maintenance log across all plants.
• Work with vendors for parts procurement, service, and technical support.
• Develop SOPs for routine equipment checks, lubrication, blade changes, and other recurring tasks.
• Support equipment upgrades, installations, and commissioning of new machinery.
• Track downtime data and recommend solutions to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned outages.
• 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance or equipment management (foam or light manufacturing preferred).
• Strong mechanical aptitude with basic understanding of foam cutting, slitting, laminating, or CNC machinery.
• Ability to read schematics, manuals, and maintenance documentation.
• Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
• Comfortable traveling to multiple sites throughout the region (up to 50%).
• Strong communicator with the ability to work across departments (operations, safety, purchasing, etc.)
