The Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced automation systems to optimize production processes. This role requires an in-depth understanding of robotics, control systems, and automation technologies. The successful candidate will lead complex projects, develop innovative solutions, and ensure seamless integration of new automation technologies across the enterprise. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Visit plant locations, learn, and understand the production processes; identify and document automation opportunities. Assess the financial and efficiency impacts of these opportunities.
- Develop novel solutions for automation throughout the enterprise.
- Develop robotics, computer vision, Material Handling devises, transfer conveyors or motion control software related to custom automation solution development.
- Designing and developing control algorithms that use sensors and other feedback mechanisms to regulate equipment operation.
- Developing and designing new automation technologies and processes to improve efficiency.
- Developing safety standards for new equipment and processes
- Designing and building computerized control systems for manufacturing processes, such as assembly lines and Molding Cells.
- Testing new equipment designs or process changes to ensure they meet safety standards and specifications.
- Overseeing the installation of new automated equipment or processes to ensure proper function and lead the decommission of the new lines or equipment.
- Designing control systems for industrial machines and equipment, such as robots or manufacturing systems Creating operational manuals for use with new equipment or processes
- This position may require up to 50% of travel

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree or education
- 10-15 years of direct experience in engineering and development of robotics and automation integration.
- Ability to act as a single threaded leader on complex projects while still contributing to concurrent running projects, focusing on multiple value streams and technology types.
- Proficiency in PLC, HMI, SCADA, MES, Vision Systems for Quality and Robotic Control, Torque Control Integration, Bin Picking Vision/Robot Integration, Robotic Welding, and Robotic Assembly.
- Fluent in Inductive Automation Ignition and OPC-UA MES mindset.
- Proficient in Python, Java, or similar scripting languages.
- Strong database programming and architecture skills, fluent in SQL programming.

- Organizational skills - to map out projects, prioritize workload and keep accurate documentation.
- Flexibility & Adaptability - must be able to keep up with latest techniques and technologies as they develop.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Must be able to lift up to 25lbs.
