Business Development Associate – Commercial Insurance

Location : Hybrid Position – Exton, PA

Job Type : Full-time | Entry-Level

Reports To : Director of Business Development

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Business Development Associate to join our growing team. This entry-level role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in the commercial insurance industry with a clear path for professional growth.

The primary responsibility of this position is prospecting and generating qualified appointments for our Insurance Advisors. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator, comfortable with outreach, and driven to develop relationships with potential business clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospecting & Lead Generation

Conduct outbound prospecting efforts via phone, email, LinkedIn, and other digital channels to generate interest in our commercial insurance services.

  • Identify and research potential business clients across various industries.
  • Maintain and organize a pipeline of qualified leads using CRM tools.
  • Appointment Setting
  • Engage with business owners, executives, and decision-makers to understand their insurance needs.

  • Effectively communicate our value proposition and schedule qualified appointments for Insurance Advisors.
  • Follow up with prospects to nurture relationships and move them through the sales funnel.
  • Market & Industry Research
  • Stay informed on industry trends, commercial insurance products, and key business sectors to refine prospecting strategies.

  • Gather insights on target industries such as Medical, Dental, Veterinary, and Professional Services.
  • Collaboration & Sales Support
  • Work closely with Insurance Advisors and sales leadership to strategize outreach efforts.

  • Assist in the development of outreach scripts, email campaigns, and other prospecting materials.
  • Attend networking events, trade shows, and industry gatherings as needed to build relationships.
  • Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field (preferred but not required).
  • 0-2 years of experience in sales, business development, or insurance (internship experience is a plus).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build rapport.
  • Goal-oriented with a competitive drive and resilience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new sales techniques and tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM platforms, and sales prospecting tools.
  • Willingness to obtain relevant insurance licenses as part of career development.
