What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Clerk position at HTG, Inc.?
Summary/Objective
The Shipping Clerk position will work under the supervision of our Warehouse Logistics Manger to package, label and ship computer systems and their components. Duties include but are not limited to: Utilizing a PC based shipping manager to process orders for shipment, following proper packaging procedures and shipping guidelines. To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will be organized, have accurate data entry skills and provide excellent and accurate communication to both internal and external partners.
Essential Functions

- Receive configured orders from warehouse team members
- Pick systems and enter serial numbers in inventory system for all computers and related components to be shipped
- Utilize shipping manager to ship order under correct account and adhering to HTG shipping process guidelines
- Prepare report compiling shipments on schedule and provide to Inventory Control Specialist as scheduled to review and correct as needed.
- Make necessary changes to corrected reports from Inventory Control accurately and in a timely manner
- Provide shipping quotes to internal departments as requested
- Provide shipping updates, including tracking numbers and estimated delivery dates to internal departments as requested or required under the project SOW
- Ensure all shipping SLAs are met, and notify the appropriate parties if an SLA will be/is in danger of being missed
- Apply all shipping labels according to carrier best practices
- Organize shipments in correct carrier pick up location, ensuring all labels are visible
- Schedule pick-ups with carriers as needed/requested
- Answer internal and external communication regarding shipping, tracking and receiving of orders
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly customer reports according to schedule
- Generate, format and review customer reports and email to specified recipients
- Update and edit internal process documentation as assigned
- Escalate problems/issues with shipping of systems to manager, or as instructed
- Follow policies and procedures regarding safety, equipment storage and warehouse guidelines
- Cultivate positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Attend and be on time for daily departmental meeting
- Attend all other departmental meetings as assigned
- Maintain confidentiality of all client information.
- Proficient in all department and company policies, procedures and processes.
- Maintain warehouse environment to HTG standards as assigned
- Report consistently and on time to work
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned

Work Environment
This job operates in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and box cutters. This role also utilizes computers, printers, and software programs to perform the essential functions of the job.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma
- Must be able to consistently lift and move heavy objects
- Must be able to stand for duration of 8-hour shift
- Able to type 40 WPM
- Great physical stamina and manual dexterity
- Ability to work flexible shifts and extended hours as workload demands
Preferred Education and Experience
- Associate degree
- Previous warehouse experience strongly preferred
- Able to type 60 WPM
- Previous experience scheduling freight shipments
- Previous experience with shipping management software
