Description : Controls Estimator

Since 1983, HTI Cybernetics® has provided intelligent manufacturing solutions that support and enhance production, including automation systems, material handling solutions, assembly tooling, and collaborative robotics.

Primary Responsibilities of Estimator :

  • Complete Controls Request for Quote, Estimating and Proposal projects in a manner that meets the customer requirements (cost, timing, quality), maximizes our company objectives (cost, margin, quality) while delivering overall satisfaction to both the Customer and our Stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development of detailed, competitive proposals regarding Controls for Capital Equipment and Manufacturing Tooling used in the assembly of automotive components to generate profitable and winning projects.
  • Coordinate project controls requirements with Controls Engineering Staff (System, PLC, Pipe & Wire) and integrate associated costs into the proposal cost and summary sheets.
  • Construct cost estimates of controls products, material, and costs by reviewing functional information, engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposal presentations that explain proposed processes, systems, project, and end-user requirements.
  • Solicit competitive sources (or assist Purchasing) if required for; Purchased Capital Equipment, raw materials, and outside services.
  • Perform other tasks as required and assigned by Management (Customer meetings, Project line-ups, End-User Plant Visits etc.).
  • The Controls Estimator will report to the Controls Engineering Manager.

Work Hours :

Flexible start time between 6 : 00AM – 8 : 00am through 2 : 30pm – 5 : 00pm, depending on project and personal preference.

40-45 hour work week on average.

Requirements :

  • 3 years of estimating and proposal experience required
  • Knowledge of controls automation and the ability to read electrical controls schematics or blueprints
  • The ability to comprehend customer requirements from specifications / RFQ’s and integrate each into competitive project estimates and detailed proposals required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes required.
  • Understanding of Project Management tools and procedures as they relate to the development of (Design / Build / Install) manufacturing systems required
  • Engineering Change / Cost Change Experience and the ability to effectively negotiate with customers.
  • MS Office : Computer Proficiency with standard software packages, including Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with customers and suppliers in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have the ability to work independently, prioritize and balance multiple proposals and coordinate customer directed quote timelines to ensure timely completion with minimal supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree (Engineering or Business) or equivalent experience highly desired but not required.
