- Bachelor’s degree in forestry or a closely related field.
- Must have 3 years of experience as a Procurement Forester in the manufacturing industry, responsible for the job duties listed below.
- SFI and BMP experience.
- Experience with chain of custody certification.
- Working knowledge of ArcGIS and Microsoft Excel.
Job Description:
You will play a vital role in managing and optimizing the company’s wood fiber resources. Your responsibilities will include conducting forest checks, supplier relations management, inventory management, and ensuring sustainable harvesting practices. You will work closely with the forestry and sustainability team to ensure the efficient and sustainable supply of wood fiber to the manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain relationships and regular communication with suppliers in all aspects of fiber procurement and delivery schedules.
- Maintain complete overview of the market and report findings on opportunities and risks.
- Negotiate fiber contracts at least cost to required quality and sustainability specifications for existing and future facilities.
- Manage daily delivery of all fiber types to ensure that the plants can maintain continuous operations.
- Maintain database of fiber suppliers to include information on price, volume, location of purchases, product type, supplier sustainability certificates, and additional information as needed.
- Generate and track purchase orders.
- Generate and track source requests.
- Conduct BMP checks (Best Management Practices).
- Conduct forest and mill sustainability checks.
- These positions involve travel within the region to visit supplier sites/forests, and the company provides a stipend or mileage reimbursement.
