Position Summary
Reporting to the Global Health and Safety Director, this role will help in the ongoing development and maintenance of the company’s health, safety and environmental program. In addition, this role will provide administrative and organizational support to the regional and field/site supervisors and managers with a focus on consistency across all operations.
Duties & Responsibilities: 60%-70% Safety Admin, 30%-40% Travel to Site
Develop, update and maintain Company Safety Manual on regular basis (minimum yearly).
Create and maintain safety standards and procedures.
Conduct weekly job site inspection to minimize unsafe work conditions and practices, preventing near misses, prepare written reports of findings, and recommend corrective or preventative measures.
Coordinate and assist outside safety consultant with on-site inspections, as needed.
Be knowledgeable in OSHA standards. Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and standards. Maintain OSHA procedures and forms.
Complete job specification safety pre-qualifications.
Lead investigation of all injuries and incidents, including vehicles. Assess and produce documentation for review on all injuries, incidents, near misses and first aids.
Liaise with the H&S Director to plan and deliver informational and educational safety information across the organization.
Work closely with managers, and across departments companywide, to improve the overall safety performance effectively in a multi-state environment.
Review and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and HazCom compliance on all jobsites.
Regularly distribute, inspect, and replace PPE in the field and ensure all new hires receive their required PPE.
Record and compile data, update logs, monitor equipment, and schedule maintenance for offices.
Coordinate and manage all aspects of H&S department meetings, including sending invites, attending, occasionally leading meetings, and taking minutes as required.
Partner with HR Director and manager in Return-to-Work program for Workers’ Comp. (Light Duty)
Ensure new hires receive Safety orientation training before start of work and on-going safety training programs & meetings.
Develop and implement weekly safety talks and actively participate in site toolbox meetings to address H&S concerns and questions.
Spearhead regular Corporate Safety Committee meetings.
Maintain and review safety trainings, safety files, and records for current employees, scissor lift, forklift certifications, fleet safety, first aid, CPR, OSHA 10, OSHA 30, etc and ensure all trainings are up to date.
Deliver all H&S communication bulletins and update Safety boards in all company locations.
Coordinate or conduct office emergency drills.
Proactively work in a safe manner in the context of performing the functions of the position
Assist site supervisors with the development of site safety plans and emergency/rescue plans as required.
Ensure the security and confidentiality of all Corporate H&S information and use discretion when providing sensitive information to those inside and outside the organization.
Promote a respectful environment for all employees.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the H&S Director, allowing flexibility for additional projects and ad hoc safety-related initiatives.
Position to be based in Peabody, MA
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in construction or HVAC industry.
Knowledge of Federal and State safety rules and regulations. Ability to understand and apply all OSHA regulations and guidelines.
Ability to train, influence, listen and motivate the team.
OSHA 30 hours Training
Experience with Microsoft Office
Clean DMV Driving Record
HVAC knowledge a plus
Ability to work under minimal supervision and must be a self-starter.
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
Ability to plan, prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraint.
Willingness to travel on occasion, primarily to NH, VT, MA, NY, and other job sites.
Salary: Negotiable depending on the qualifications and experience.
