This position is for intermediate level roadway litter clean up crew members. We are looking for individuals who have a strong work ethic and a positive team centered attitude. Additionally, it is important that you are willing to assist where you are needed, willing to learn new techniques, and to be committed to maintaining a safe work environment.
This position’s primary responsibility is conducting removal of roadside litter from various counties in South Carolina. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Roadside Litter Crew Leader.
This is heavy work requiring the exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, stooping, standing, and daily walking along high traffic roadways. Constant outside conditions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken work levels; visual acuity is required for observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / TYPICAL TASKS:
Removes roadside litter and removes various illegally dumped materials.
Utilizes required company equipment related to the removal roadside litter and illegal dumpsites and other required duties.
Crew member must have the ability to safely load and unload roadside litter into and out of company vehicle or trailer and safely operate a pull behind trailer system.
Must have the ability to safely work along County and SCDOT maintained road right of ways while traffic is moving and work in adverse weather conditions.
Must be a self-starter
Must be able to walk between 8-12 miles per day
Must be able to work in inclement weather (cold, heat, rain)
Must be able to work in high grass areas
Must be able to meet at pick up location
Must be able to lift bend and kneel with no difficulties.
Must be able to follow directions and follow safety precautions.
Must be able to pick up trash and debris from roadways
Performs all other related tasks as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of State and County roadways, ability to utilize required equipment, maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School education or related GED
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Valid South Carolina driver’s license is required.
