Job Description
Works independently and with other team members to install and service security and surveillance systems for both residential and commercial clients. This position requires a strong technical background in low voltage security systems, with the ability to program, troubleshoot, and maintain a variety of security platforms. The Security Technician will often work independently on site and must be comfortable interfacing directly with clients, addressing their concerns and ensuring a high level of professionalism and customer satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities
- Travel to client sites to install, program, and service security and surveillance systems, including Qolsys panels, Honeywell, NX panels, Elk security systems, Alarm.com systems, Luma cameras, and Bosch cameras.
- Perform software updates, complete small-scale new installations, and handle system additions or integrations.
- Provide Service Manager with project status updates and maintain project documentation daily.
- Complete quality control checks using Job Forms to ensure work meets company standards.
- Employ project management principles to execute security system projects on-time and within budget.
- Exhibit professionalism and deliver excellent customer service, effectively communicating with clients about technical issues and solutions.
- Serve as a resource for technical security knowledge, guiding clients and team members through complex systems.
- Efficiently troubleshoot both simple and complex security and surveillance issues.
- Configure and deploy basic networking and data systems related to security installations as required.
- Program automation, lighting, shading, surveillance, and security systems as needed.
- Coach, lead, and mentor less experienced technicians, sharing best practices and industry knowledge.
- Complete required training and certifications; maintain certification levels for all position requirements.
- Adhere to and maintain quality standards at all times.
- Minimum 5 years of field experience in security systems, demonstrating proficiency in all of the above responsibilities.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Familiarity with Qolsys, Honeywell, NX panels, Elk, Alarm.com, Luma, and Bosch systems strongly preferred.
- Additional certifications in security, surveillance, or home automation systems preferred but not required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to devise in-field solutions.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Valid drivers license with a satisfactory driving record required.
- Clean background check required.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and at high elevations.
