JOB SUMMARY:
The role involves conducting investigations into matters referred to Hualapai Social Services that occur within the Hualapai Tribe's jurisdiction. This includes investigating cases of domestic violence, stalking, teen dating, violence, and sexual assault. The responsibilities encompass case management, fact-finding, and reporting the results of investigations. Additionally, this position requires communication with victims, offenders, witnesses, and coordination with relevant caseworkers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Understand the impact of domestic violence, stalking, teen dating violence, and sexual assault.
· Possess the skills to effectively address the needs of victims and their environments.
· Be familiar with the protocols and services provided by local service providers and understand community dynamics.
· Have knowledge of the Hualapai Law and Order Code, U.S. Code, federal statutes, state statutes, and other applicable laws within Indian Country.
· Prepare initial, supplemental, and final reports for all investigations in a clear, logical, concise, and impartial manner. Reports should address the reported allegations, household dynamics, community influences, substance abuse factors, parenting impacts, children's stability, and other relevant factors contributing to domestic violence.
· Communicate effectively with individuals in both formal and informal settings; testify under oath in court or before an administrative agency regarding investigative findings.
· Assist in maintaining the necessary statistical information required for grant project reporting by keeping accurate records (data entry) and statistical information on clients served. Compile data and complete reports as requested.
· Advocate for crisis intervention, make social service referrals when necessary, and accompany law enforcement during follow-up calls.
· Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or equivalent, and at least two (2) years of working with crime scene investigations or direct work with victims and perpetrators of domestic violence.
- Possess a working knowledge of Federal, State, and Tribal Laws that affect the best interests of the Hualapai Indian community.
- Must demonstrate the ability to conduct interviews with complex individuals.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible for the tribe’s insurance.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret government regulations and procedure manuals; capable of writing reports and correspondence; and effectively presenting information while responding to questions from managers, employees, and the general public.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must pass a local, state, and federal background check.
- Willingness to travel and work beyond regular hours.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
