SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:
This position is a permanent position for several earth tank clean-out and water pipeline construction projects and various other projects, which are on-going for the Natural Resources Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Must be able to operate heavy equipment in a multiple use environment
· Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
· Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment
· Conduct per-operational checks on equipment, clean, lubricate and refill the equipment fluids as necessary
· Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, and check that the vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned
· Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance
· Use various pieces of equipment to perform sub, fine, and finish grading back filling, demolitions, ditching, loading, excavating and stockpiling
· Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the equipment
· Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat, dust, humidity, cold, rain, and snow. Use of personal protective equipment is required
· Must be responsible, dependable and self-motivated
· Performs all other duties assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must posses a High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be eligible for the tribe’s insurance
- Must submit to and pass a per-employment drug/alcohol and random screenings
- Must have knowledge and be able to demonstrate ability to operate heavy equipment
