JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Water Resource Manager, the Water Resources Program oversees six area-wide reservation trust land locations. The Water Resource Assistant Program Manager will help supervise positions with specific scopes of work with the following program responsibilities: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Water Quality Assessments, Wetland Preservation and Conservation, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Water Planning and Development, United States Geological Survey (USGS) water monitoring and gauging stations, including 108 miles of the Hualapai Tribe’s northern boundary of the Colorado River and other water development grants and contracts.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist the Water Resource Manager in these tasks:
Prepare an inventory of all water resources on six area-wide reservations of trust lands.
Conducts Water Quality and Quantity Analysis and Management Planning.
Performs Wetland and riparian area watershed assessments.
Collects and utilizes Water Resource Data for Management recommendations.
Plans and Design locations for water Improvement and Conservation Practices.
Develop and implement water resource projects.
Assures that the Hualapai Tribes Water Quality Standards are in compliance.
Writes Grants for potential funding of water resource related projects.
Participates and attends EPA authorized training and certification trainings.
Write Reports and updates Hualapai Tribal Council and other outside cooperators on water resource standards and issues.
Cultivate a cooperative working relationship with other tribes, local governments and federal and state agencies related to water resources.
Conducts research and studies with federal and state entities that are beneficial to the Hualapai Tribe.
Conduct other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
- Submit to and pass a pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screening
- Must have a current driver’s license and be eligible for tribe’s insurance MVR Screening.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Hydrology or related field preferred and/or three (3) years ‘experience in Water Resources.
- Computer and software literate in Microsoft operation systems, other computer and apps data systems,
- Excellent physical condition and be able to remain in the field for long durations of time.
- Must have administrative ability and professional knowledge of Water Resources.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and complete in a timely and efficient manner.
- Must be a team player to integrate with community working groups and other departmental program.
