SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the Water Resources Program Manager assists in the completion of specific scopes of work in the following program areas: EPA Water Quality Assessments, Storm Water Pollution Prevention, Source Waster Assessment and Protection, Wetland Preservation and Conservation. Conduct physical water quality parameters, monitoring of wetland vegetation and acreage, collecting macroinvertabrates, algae, fish and bird data, water level monitoring of wells and public education meetings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain an inventory of all water resources on the Reservation. Routine schedule to take required water samples, maintain water quality records, prepare and deliver water sample shipment(s);
- Attend authorized training sessions;
- Cultivate a cooperative working relationship with other tribes, local governments and federal agencies related to water resources;
- Good oral and written communication skills;
- Good computer skills;
- Conduct other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalent, college course(s) completion preferred;
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License and able to pass MVR check;
- Submit to and pass a per-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings;
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and complete in a timely and efficient manner;
- Must have a good attitude and be attentive to details;
- Able to camp outdoors under a variety of weather conditions 5-10 days;
- Ability to hike several miles through rugged terrain, with backpacks and under extreme weather conditions;
- Able to work for extended periods of time;
- Able to lift up to 45 lbs;
- Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
